Is It Necessary To Do An HSG Test To Check For Tubal Pregnancy While Trying To Conceive?
Helli doctor, I had a myomectomy in November 2017 to get out submucous fibroid and polyps. And I have been TTC actively for 3+ months now. I'd like to know if it's necessary I have to do an HSG test to check for tubal patency. The thing is, I have been dreading the test.
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service. I reviewed your query and here is advise. If your doctor thinks it is necessary you have to do it because it has been claimed that the chance of pregnancy increases after HSG has been performed.Using catheters, an interventional radiologist or specifically trained radiographer can open tubes that are proximally occluded. The HSG can be painful, so analgesics may be administered before and/or after the procedure to reduce pain. Your doctor will also prescribe an antibiotic prior to the procedure to reduce the risk of an infection.
Hope I have answered the question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
