Is It Necessary To Induce Labour When Having Gestational Diabetes?

my wife is 37 weeks pregnant, age 29 years and we just got her BLOOD SUGAR (P.P) done and it has come out to be 143 on which our doctor has said that this is a case of gestational diabetes and we should induce the pains to get the baby out by 38th week. I just want to know whether it is safe and is the blood sugar at an alarming level to induce the pains.

HELLO DEAR
I understand your concern, there is no harm going for induction at 38 weeks of gestation , as induction planned after full assessment of cervical status and fetal status and weight. But if your sugar level is under control on diet only then you can weight for spontaneous labour up to 40 weeks of gestation and then you can planned for induction after assesment. Dear induction depend on many factor not only sugar level ( your sugar level is higher side of normal ) like fetal weight, fetal status because there are chances of sudden fetal death, cervical status and pelvic adequacy so you should follow your treating doctor .
ALL THE BEST
THANKS
