Is It Necessary To Put A Stitch For The Cut On The Head?

my son of 6 yrs. fell on wall corner by his forehead and got a cut. I rushed him to nearest doctor. One junior doctor put two stitches on the place prescribed 20 kid tabs of amp&clox and 1/2 tab of paracetamole+aceclofenac. The cut is about 1.5cm. I am confused whether the stitch was necessary and the prescription is alright or not. whether his stitch mark will disappear or not?
