Is It Necessary To Take Dexona Tablets And Safe To Drive At 35 Weeks Of Pregnancy?

Hullo, am 35 weeks pregnant with no complication, i still do my work as usual and i drive approximately 90 kms everyday to work. I was given dexona by my doctor to take 8 tablets three times a day for three days. do i really need to take the tablets if i dont have any pregnancy threats? and is it still safe for me to drive in my condition( i come from a third world country where our roads are not good). Will be glad when i receive an answer.

Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
Dexona or betamethasone both are steroids.
They are generally given before term to women who have a risk of developing preterm labour pains.
For those who do not have such issues, it is unnecessary to take them.
In fact, if the roads are not good, you should take Duvadilan - that will inhibit uterine contractions.
I do not see any point in taking Dexona right now.
You should ideally stop commuting 90 kms on bad roads right now.
All the best
