Is It Normal For Lexapro To Cause Dry Mouth And Itching In The Throat?
Hello, I ve been given Lexapro 10mg to me by my doctor and started taking it two days ago. I felt like I was going to pass out work yesterday and tonight I have really dry mouth and it tastes weird. The dry mouth is followed by an itchy throat. Is this normal?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Yes, dry mouth and bad taste may occur with this drug, initially there may be some more unlikely effects of the drugs, but most of these effects are temporary and go away with it use in few days. So either you can continue use the drug if possible, I hope things would settle, or you can start the drug in low dose like you can start with lower dose take it to higher later on, however do this after advice from your primary doctor. I would also advise to take the drug on full stomach, to avoid some of its side effects. If things get worse, or persists, then you can discuss with your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman
