Hello, My son is 5 months, 1 week old. He had is BCG jab 6 weeks ago. I am a little worried as it is very red/purple, big and inflammed. Also feels quite hot to touch. However it is not pussy. Is this normal. Looks nasty? Should i take him to the doctors?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Respected Sir,
The BCG vaccine is supposed to produce a characteristic lesion that progresses from a small macule (reddish swelling) to a purple based papule. It shows that you son is mounting an adequate immune response to the vaccine and the vaccine is doing its job.
Just wait and watch it will subside in 2-3 weeks.
