Hello and thank you for using HCM!
I read carefully the situation prescribed by you and i will try to give you some more informations.
After total
thyroidectomy it is mandatory to take thyroid hormones during the whole life. The interruption of the treatment for 6 weeks will have for sure symptoms like;
fatigue, feeling sleepy, weight gain,
constipation, ect. wich will be corrected soon after restarting the treatment.
There are also other ways to raise
TSH for the whole body scintiscan without interrupting the treatment for 6 weeks.
1) To stop the treatment with
levothyroxine and start T3 wich may be interrupted only 2 weeks before scintiscan.
2) 3 days before scintiscan you may apply 2 injections of recombinant TRH, for 2 consecutive nights.
Hope to have helped you with my information.
Best regards,
Dr.M.Guni
