Is It Normal To Bleed During Bowel Movements While Suffering From Flu?
Hi, I am being sick and when I poo, there is bright red blood with it. I can not keep liquid or solids down, I have been like this for over a week now. I have been to my gp and they have said it's just the flu but I don't think it is. Can you please help.?
- bright red for the last 7 days, can not keep anything down, went to GP who said this to be flu. As per the short history that you have provided, this looks to be a local problem as the blood is bright red means fresh.
This can be due to piles/hemorrhoids or polyp in the rectum or distal colon. I would advise you the following in such a situation the following:
Get an opinion of a General Surgeon for clinical evaluation, per-rectal examination and ano-proctoscopy so that a preliminary diagnosis can be done. You will need a colonoscopy also to rule out anything in colon. Once the diagnosis is clear, the treatment can be done specifically.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T Chandrakant
