Is It Normal To Experience Abnormal Thirst And Exhaustion After A Head Injury?
Hello, I was on a sailboat yesterday and when they dropped they sail I was hit at the back of the head by the boom (the horizontal metal part under the sail). I didn't pass out but I felt the pain for a few hours. I went home and decided to take a nap. The nap somehow turned into a 17-hour sleep and when I woke up I still felt exhausted and extremely thirsty. I have had approximately 2-2.5 litres of water and electrolyte drinks in the past 4 hours and I still feel very thirsty and exhausted. Is it something to be worried about?
If you had a 17 hour abnormal sleep and feel dizziness, you must see a doctor for any suspected internal head injury. A CT scan might be necessary. If one sleeps for 17 hours, the body requirements of electrolytes and water increases as such.
