Is It Normal To Experience Severe Pain After Undergoing A Surgery For Broken Hip And Femur?
a 49 year old man broke his hip and femur and had surgery to repair it two days ago. He is concerned that he has a great deal of pain, and it is not diminishing appreciably. He has not been able to get up by himself at all, and even just lying in the bed, he is suffering about an 8 out of 10 pain. Is this common or expectable?
Post operative pain after hip surgery is severe and common .you may need to take opiodanalgesic consulting your treating doctor. If epidural Cather is in place then analgesia through infusion pump can be obtained.
You may consult physiotherapist for pain management. He may start TENS, or ultrasound which is helpful in your case. You may need to take rest for early healing.
Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries. If you find this answer helpful do not forget to give rating at end of discussion.
