Is It Normal To Have A Lump At The Needle Insertion Site?

I just got labs drawn and I now have a very small, hard lump at the site of the needle insertion. It also hurts to touch but not badly. I got labs drawn a few weeks ago and this didn't happen.

Is this normal or does it need any kind of attention?

Thanks!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi, it is normal. Sometimes hematomas or blood clots form near site of puncture of the vein. You need not worry about it. It will settle in a few days. You can apply warm compresses over it for it to settle early.
Take care,
Dr Rishi, New Delhi, India.
