Is It Normal To Have Bleeding After Having Implanon Fitted?
Hi, i had implanon fitted last August but for the last month i have had constant bleeding. I still have utovlan tablet from a similar problem over a year ago which are still indate so I have started taking them. The bleeding has stopped but will the Utovlan affect the implanon working as a contraceptive? I am 5ft 5 and weigh 8 stone aged 27
After insertion of implanon bleeding is natural. Bleeding occurs due to changes in the hormonal system of the body. Once the body adjusts with the hormonal changes, bleeding reduces and stops. Utovan is norethisterone, used to prevent pregnancy so ideally it should not affect the efficacy of the Implanon. Prolonged bleeding after insertion of implant is treated with combined oral contraceptive pill, progesterone alone, oestrogen alone, or tranexamic acid. Avoid stress, cut on addictions if any. Stay well hydrated & take adequate rest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
