Is It Normal To Have Bowel Movement Post Coffee Intake?
I sometimes go for days without a bowel movement. Then when I do its a bit rough. Right after I finish, I feel absolutely great, but the weird thing is I feel like I do after drinking a strong cup of coffee. Is it normal to have your metabolism increase immediately following a bowel movement?
Coffee can affect the peristaltic (contractions) of the bowel. It can cause them to increase.
This is how it would affect the bowel movement.
To reduce your constipation you would need to: (1)increase fiber intake- this means using fruits, vegetables, whole grain foods If it is not possible to use enough dietary fiber then use a fiber supplement such as metamucil, cetrucil, benefiber
(2)use enough fluids- at least 8 glasses of fluids daily not counting coffee, tea or alcohol
(3)physical activity
I hope this helps
