Is It Normal To Have Brain Fogs While Having Sinusitis?

I recently was told by a nurse practitioner that I had an inner ear infection and was placed on antibiotics and steroids along with ear drops. Symptoms was ear pain, and head pain, sore neck. I am on my third day of antibiotics and feel no better, actually feel a little worse. Today I am experiencing brain fog along with my headaches, sore throat. Should I be concerned that something more serious is going on or is this typical of sinusitis?

Hello,

Ear pain, headache and soreness in throat are suggestive of infection spreading from ear to throat and sinuses.

You need to continue with the antibiotic as prescribed. The antibiotic will take care of infection in ear, throat and sinuses, however, a X-ray of para-nasal sinuses can be done.
I suggest you to consult your ENT specialist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri
