Is It Normal To Have Cramping And Brown Blood Clots While Taking Depo Shot?

I have been on the depo shot since last January. I cramp all the time so I m used to it, but last night I had some really bad cramps and this morning when I went to the bathroom there was a brown blood clot on the tissue... I m still cramping a little but not as severe as last night. A nurse friend says it s normal since I gave birth oct 2011 that maybe the lining is shedding slow, however, I was on mirena for a year and bled almost constantly and it immediately stopped upon getting the depo shot. Should I be worried?

Hi, well from the history you have given, break through bleeding or irregular spotting is a side effect of depo provera, this is due to progesterone.But if the bleeding is severe, or if you have continous discharge, you may have to consult your gynaecologist.Increase amount of clots should be considered, as it may cause a fall in your haemoglobin content.Mild abdominal cramps and breat tenderness can sometimes occur due to depo, but anything severe needs consideration and doctors check up..hope I was helpful to you.
