Hello, and I hope I can help you today.

If what you meant a medically indicated abortion (because of the condition of the fetus) at 16 weeks, if it was performed in a hospital setting via a surgical procedure and at least 4 weeks has gone by since the procedure, you may just be having a heavy period, which can be normal after having been recently pregnant, no matter how far along.

However, if it is less than 4 weeks since the procedure, I am concerned you may have delayed bleeding from the procedure itself and if that is the case- if you are soaking more than one pad an hour or start to feel dizzy or sick you should call your doctor or go to an emergency room.

I hope I was able to adequately answer your question today and that my advice was helpful.

Best wishes,

Dr. Brown
