Is It Normal To Have Excessive Flow During Periods Post Childbirth?

I delivered my baby in September 2014... Post the 40-50 day post partum - I have been having regular periods I started my periods again yesterday - but they are so heavy this time, that I have already changed 3 tampons since morning! could you let me know - the reason of this excessive flow? Is it normal?
