Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is It Normal To Have Increased Levels Of ALT And AST After Getting Flu Shots?
I recently had a flu shot. The next day, I had some routine blood work done. This evening my Doctor s office informed me that my AST and ALT levels were heightened. One was 47 (normal 10 - 30) and the other was around 60 (normal 6 - 40). Could the flu shot cause these heightened levels? Thanks, Annette
You have not mentioned the name of medications, dosage, and your personal information.
As a result, I can't say whether it is related to Flu shot, but the good point is your liver enzymes (ALT and AST) is not elevated more than 3 times than the upper limit of normal, so I would suggest you wait for 2 weeks after that you can retest your liver enzymes.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
