Is It Normal To Have Pain In Whole Body At The Age Of 95?

Hello, My mum is 95 and has a lung infection and is now confined to bed. She gets very upset when she is touched anywhere on her body and says it is very painful. Is this normal at her age and poor state of health? Hope you can shed some light on this for us as we hate to see her in pain. Thank you. Kay

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Generalized pain and tenderness is not normal.

Her doctor should assess the pain and see if she can be given medication to help her.

He or she may start with one of the milder pain medications such as paracetamol and move up from here if needed.
The cause of the pain would also need to be determined.

I hope this helps
