Is It Normal To Have Plugged Ears Post Recovery From Concussion?
Hi there, I got a concussion last Thursday. If was diagnosed Monday and when my headaches didn t improve I went to the ER on Wednesday but they were not concerned about bleeding so did no scan and sent me home. The headaches have stopped but my right ear (the side of trejo head I hit) feels plugged - it feels very plugged and then less so. Also the side of the head I hit feels kind of funny - almost numb but I can feel it from the outside when I touch my head if that makes sense. Is this normal ?
Headaches are one of the criteria used to determine whether a person needs a CT scan after an acute head injury.
It is in a set of criteria called New Orleans criteria for CT scan after head injury.
If a CT scan was done initially then they would not have needed to repeat it later but a bleed should not have developed later. If there was an earlier scan, you can consider visiting your ENT to have him or her take a look at the ear.
If there was no earlier scan, it would be best to see your doctor for assessment because one may be needed.
I hope this helps
