Is It Normal To Have Sore, Red Tonsil After Cavity Filling?
Hi, I recently had a cavity filled on the upper left part of my mouth. It's been two days since the procedure, and I still have sever pain and tenderness in my cheek where I'm guessing they put the novacain. I also am getting a burning sensation in my left ear and sore, red swollen tonsil on my left side. Again, it's been two days since the procedure. Is this normal?
I am so sorry to hear about these symptoms that you have reported. It is not normal too have a swollen and painful tonsil after dental work. I will suggest that you return to the doctor for further assessment and management. This could represent tonsilitis that needs to be managed some what differently.

Hello, thank you for consulting with healthcaremagic. No it is not normal to have these kind of symptoms after cavity filling. It looks that you are having some kind of allergic reactions because of the chemicals used in the procedure. The cheek pain can be because of the periapical infection of the tooth which has been filled, so better you should go for root canal treatment in the tooth rather than just filling. You should visit your dentist for filling and allergic reaction.
Hope it will help you.
