Is It Normal To Have Spotting During 9 Weeks Of Pregnancy?
Hi I will be 9 weeks pregnant tomorrow and around jan,7,14 I started spotting and it was brownish and now today is jan,17,14 I have a little bit of blood mixed with it I was just wondering if I may be having a miscarriage or is it normal to have spotting like this.
Hello, It is not normal to have spotting at 9 weeks. The commonest cause is threatened abortion or a missed abortion [baby already aborted inside the uterus] or placental separation. Other reasons like polyps and erosion may also lead to spotting.
So please see a doctor and get an ultrasound scan done for fetal well being and look for reason of spotting. You may need drugs like progesterone if the baby is alive to help decrease the spotting. Hope this satisfies your query. Thanks for using HCM. Have a safe pregnancy. Feel free to ask any more questions that you may have. Dr Madhuri Bagde Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist
Hi. It is not normal to have spotting in pregnancy. It does not mean miscarriage either. I will advise you to see your dr. and get per speculum ex. to see the cause for bleeding and also for sure get a scan done .It can be cervical erosion or low lying placenta or simply vaginal infection. So, consult your dr. with reports and take proper treatment. Thanks.
