Is It Normal To Have The First Period 8 Weeks After Giving Birth?
Hello! I just got my first period after 2nd c-section. It's been 3 days now and it's extremely heavy! However there is no pain at all. I had a d&c over a year ago because of extremely heavy bleeding and clotting that lasted for 3 weeks also with no pain. I'm hoping this all slows down soon and i don't need another d&c. Is this normal for first period 8 weeks after birth?
The first period after giving birth may come at any time after 6 weeks and it may be heavy. It take as a few cycles for the normal rhythm to get established.
If you needed a D and C for heavy bleeding in the past you may try depo shots as they decrease the growth of the uterine lining and also provide contraception. However they cause irregular bleeding in some women.
Please do not worry about the recurrence of the past episode as these imbalances tend to get corrected after pregnancy.
