Is It Normal To Have Tingly Toes While On Splint For Ankle Fracture?
Hi--I was put in a splint for an ankle fracture tonight. I had significant swelling in my foot and ankle. Is it normal to have some degree of tingling in the toes? Or is that not normal and a sign that my splint is too tight? I didn t think it seemed too tight at all when they did it but now that my toes feel weird and tingly, I am not so sure. Thanks!
Hello,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that you were put in a splint for an ankle fracture tonight. You had significant swelling in your foot and ankle. Now you have some degree of tingling in the toes. In my opinion it is not normal and is a sign that your splint is too tight. It was not seemed too tight at all when they did it but now that your toes feel weird and tingly. You are correct ,as swelling go on increasing for some days , so splint got tight. It should be immediately loosened, otherwise nuerovascular compromise of limb can occur. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it. I do hope that you have found something helpful. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
