Is It Normal To Use Pain Medicines For Long Time After Surgery?

Hi. I'ma 42year old preschool teacher and single full time mother of 3. I had vaginal surgery on Jan 27th. I had severe bladder prolapse so had that repaired, hysterectomy but left my ovaries, and A&P repair. I spent 3 nights in the hospital; the first 48 hours being cathed each time I needed to urinate. I was told by my Dr that some people go back to work a week out of surgery. I am still in quite a bit of pain and starting to feel frustrated. is it normal to still need pain meds ( 1 to 2 Percocet a day) and be in pain this far out?

HI
Thank for asking to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, pain killing medicine are not good for health, and that should not be taken for longer than enough time, bearing the pain is the best option, if you can, otherwise later or sooner one has to change the pain killing medicine and need to go for more potent one, and such potent pain killer are dangerous, hope this information helps you, take care and have good day.
