Is It Normal To Vomit Daily When Diagnosed With Abdominal Migraines?
my daughter is 17 and has been diagnosed w/abdominal migraines. At first they were a day or so and now they can last 2-3 weeks. She also vomits daily and it is worse when she sits still and concentrates for more than 20 mins. Is this normal? The meds prescribed did take awake the migraine but not the vomiting. She is now getting an MRI and has suggested she see a specialist but he can t see her for weeks. What else can I do she has lost 18 lbs.
Abdominal migraine is similar to Migraine headache with symptoms such as recurrent abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting. Diagnosis is confirmed by ruling out other etiologies for abdominal pain.
NSAIDs such as ibuprofen or paracetamol is prescribed to relieve pain, triptans are relieve migraine symptoms and further progressing of symptoms, antiemetic medicine such as Emeset to prevent vomiting. Other medications depends on symptoms. Usually, the symptoms lasts for three or four days. Continuous vomiting disturbs the normal homeostasis. Discuss with your doctor on symptomatic medications and further evaluation.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
