I am 52 years young and have been diagonised as having Grade-III BPH recently thru Ultrasound Sonogrophy. 3years back there was no such condition when a sonography was done. Can the situation deteriorate so fast? I have strong symptoms of BPH like urination urge, etc. Repeated/regular tests have confirmed absence of Diabetes. i am prescribed Geriflo-D pending further test like PSA analysis. Is this prescription without knowing the PSA results okay?

Hi, Thanks for asking. looking at your reports and clinical features, my opinion is as follows: 1. PSA test is done to screen patients for presence of Prostate cancer. 2. As you have clinically and symptomatically BPH, you have been started on treatment. 3. PSA results is not necessary for treatment and is being done to check any future level increase (titre increase) and also to make sure presently you dont have any prostate cancer.
Hope it helps. Any further queries, happy to help again.
