Hi and Welcome To HCM
Well accidents happen, I hope it didn't bleed profusely. Generally traumatic head injuy involves the skull as well as the brain(either from a direct or indirect impact).
There are several features which signifies the severity of the injury i.e. starting from Headache,
nausea,
vomiting,
dizziness,
fits, weakness of certain body parts,
loss of consciousness etc.
Since you havn't mentioned any of those above mentioned signs and symptoms I'd like to ask you that had you experienced any ?? If not then I think its a mild
head injury.
Now coming to your query regarding the bleeding, well you did absolutely the right thing to stop the bleeding. Also the right thing to wash off the blood from the hair. Now in any injury bleeding happens due break in blood vessels and it generally stops in about 5-10min . that being said I must tell you that the time period varies depending on the severity of the injury, area of the body part affected, impact of the injury and several other factors.
Now our SCALP(The covering for our skull and brain inside) is having a very rich blood supply(specially in young adults) which made it bleed very severely and even from a less severe trauma (from which the other body parts probably not bled that easily).
All I hope that you must've washed it from clean water. washing off the hair is fine after sometime when the bleeding stops but don't try to wash the clot(the reddish brown covering of the wound which later on forms the SCAB). Also don't try to pull of or tamper the clot as it makes the wound more severe and tend to bleed even more. Do keep an eye of the size of the clot and if it keeps on increasing after a few hours then you need to contact to your nearest ER, perhaps get a
CT scan of the head done. also if you experience any of those previously mentioned warning signs then just contact to your nearest ER and get a CT scan of the head done at the earliest.
Do let me know how you stay in your next follow-up and once again thank you for contacting HCM
