Is It Okay To Start Birth Control Pill One Week Later Than Usual?
My period started Thursday, November 21st and ended on Monday of this week. I just got prescribed the pill today, and would like to start taking them this Sunday. That is technically 1 week later than I'm supposed to start, is this ok? Not planning to be sexually active for at least three weeks if that makes a difference. Please help!
hi, Welcome to HCM, All birth control pills should be started from Day one of the period, specially if it is given as a contraceptives. Today is 4th December 2013. This is 14th day of your period. If you will not be sexually active for next 3 weeks, and your periods are regular, I would say, wait for next period to come and then start from your day one of the period. If you are taking it to postpone your period, then you start from tonight. I hope You understand it well. If any further query, you are welcome. Dr H Hamdani
