Is It Okay To Take Double Dose Of Glucophage When Single Dose Is Prescribed?
Non diabetic 210lb 21 y/o M, normally prescribed Glucophage 750mg BID, missed first dose I normally take in the AM, took one dose before dinner, a second a few minutes ago thinking I forgot my dinner dose, realized I already took a dose. Should I be ok taking the doubled dose tonight or should I go to the base ED.
Glucophage is a tablet which is routinely given for patients with diabetes. It contains metformin which belongs to class of biguanides, acts as a insulin sensitizers.
It is usually prescribed in higher doses in obese patients who have high insulin resistance. It can be given upto 4000 gms per day. once you skip the doses you are not supposed to take it as a double doses.
So take your regular doses as prescribed, dont take additional doses
Thanks
