Is It Okay To Take Primolut Injection From 5 Weeks Pregnancy?

Hi, am Yvonne. I am 3months pregnant and I have been taking primolut injection since week 5. My doctor said it will increase the chances of the pregnancy staying as I had a miscarriage last year October. My mum says the injection is too much as I am to take it till week 20. Am getting confused and worried about its effect. Am I taking it for too long? And also is it possible to miss a week injection?

Hi, thanks for writing..
Primolut injection is progesterone injection which will help to maintain pregnancy.. Since you had a miscarriage earlier, it would be better to take those injections till 20 weeks.. It doesnot have much sideeffect on the fetus. If u have a problem with the injections u can switch over to tablets after consulting ur gynaecologist.. Taking adequate rest with healthy food is equally important.. Good day.
