Is It Possible For A Woman To Ovulate In Some Months And Not To Ovulate In Some Months ?
I was once able to conceive which means i ovulated in that month, is it possible for a woman not to ovulate in some months even if she knows she is fertile?
Hi Naina!
Welcome to HCm.The majority of women of reproductive age ovulate almost every month. Many women will however have an occasional anovulatory (not ovulating ) cycle which may be due to significant stress, severe weight changes, or secondary to a benign tumor in the pituitary gland that produces an excess of the hormone prolactin which can interfere with ovulation. There is also a condition known as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome that some women have due to an imbalance of hormones that leads to persistent failure to ovulate.Take care.
Welcome to Healthcare Magic There are periods of hormonal disturbance which can prevent ovulation causing usually painless bleeding. PCOD is one of the disorders including Hypothyroidism and Progesteronehormone deficiency which can cause delay or lack of ovulation. By doing basal body temperature measurement and other tests one can find out if she is fertile for that month or not. If there is a problem you may need to get a hormonal test just before your menses to find out hormone problem along with serial ultrasound monitoring to find out if there is problem in ovulation.
