Is It Possible To Have Menstruation Without Ovaries?

My daughter had a remaining ovary removed a few weeks ago. They were unable to remove the uterus because she is quite heavy. She is on hormones and is now having a very painful period with bleeding. Is this normal and is it possible she will have more periods even with no ovaries?
