Is It Possible To Regularize Periods While Having Uterine Fibroids?
I had a vaginal ultrasound today and it showed I had a small fibroid on my uterus, I have been having irregular periods and lately a heavy cycle and clots, will this be over looked by my obgyn? Or what can be done to get my cycles back normal. I am 37 never been pregnant. Will I be able to get pregnant
Since you have never been pregnant & will be wanting babies in future, it is recommended to get the uterine fibroids removed if you have been diagnosed. Fibroids may affect your fertility in the long run & may prevent embyro from attaching, may cause miscarriage or reduce the chances of conceiving. After the fibroid has been removed your periods will get regularized. However, in many women the fibroid do not grow. Your gynecologist may wait and watch while treating with medications like GnRH agonists, tranexamic acid, oral contraceptives, etc.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
