Is It Possible To Treat Torn Cartilage On Knee Without Surgery?
HI, my name is Harjeet and I am 72 years old. I have consulted with an orthopaedic surgeon who has suggested TKR as the cartilage is gone from my right knee. I experience pain in my right knee and can only walk slowly. I am trying to delay surgery for as long as I can. Will my condition improve with exercises?
Hii , Welcome To HCM & Thanks For Asking Your Query Here
as your cartilage has worn out completely and You are 72 and you may or may not be the suitable candidate for a TKR
it is almost impossible for a irreversibly damaged knee joint to become normal again with medicines and exercise , it depends upon the extent and grade of damage whether you may or may not be benefited by physiotherapy and medicines you should go for TKR or not depends upon age, weight, medical conditions, or other factors as some individuals simply aren’t candidates for the procedure. But if you fall into the category of someone Who might benefit from A TKR , Consult with a surgeon and, if necessary,Get A Second Opinion
Delaying or declining a TKR after your surgeon has recommended can have serious repercussions.
i would strongly suggest you to see the best joint replacement surgeon near you and get a second opinion and make decision for your betterment
I hope it help Thanks & Get well Soon
