Is It Safe To Be On Steroids For Erythema Multiforme?
My daughter had elective surgery last Wednesday. She was in recovery over 3 hrs with family being told they had a hard time waking her. Now she has a rash that she was told yesterday is erythema multiforme and she was put on steroids. Is this rash long term and are there any lasting side effects?
Hi, Thanks for writing to us. In erythema multiforme, we add oral steroids as it controls the activity of lesions and helps in faster resolution. Usually with oral and topical steroids & antibiotics, EM resolves. In your daughter's case, the cause for EM should be ruled out. Infections and oral drugs are most common cause. Wishing your child a speedy recovery. Take care
