Is It Safe To Continue Renolog To Control Creatinine Level?
Hi doctor.. I am a 45 years old male from India. I have blood pressure and take Amtas M 50 tablets regularly and right now my BP is under control. However it is found that my creatinine level is 1.8. Nephrologist suggested to take renolog for 21 days and after that too creatinine level remain unchanged. Is it a big issue? next week i have to fly aborad for one year. my blood urea is 48 mg/dl and uric acid is 5.9mg/dl. I dont have any pain or swelling etc.. Now doctor suggested to take renolog for another 6 months 3 times in a day. is it okey? Please advise.
Here, I am not aware regarding the cause of renal dysfunction. Anyhow, renolog is something like an amino acid derivative that may modify protein metabolism in favour of kidney. Being a form of nutritional supplement, it is unlikely to cause any significant side effect and you can safely continue that.
I also recommend you to screen for diabetes with HbA1C testing, and strict control of blood pressure, as both these can further worsen kidney function. Also avoid analgesics like NSAIDs and restrict salt intake.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
