Is It Safe To Continue Antibiotics While Having Persistent Pain Due To Kidney Infection?

I was diagnosed last Saturday with a Kidney Infection, and given Cipro. The pain was extreme through Monday, but is still very intense. My doctor is out today, and I was just wondering if that was normal - for the pain to still be pretty strong after antibotics for almost a week or do I need to go and be rechecked. Other than the pain I feel okay. I also took Azo on Tuesday and Wednesday which helped. Can I safely take that another 2 days?

Hi,

If significant pain still persists after 1 week of antibiotics, it’s better that you go and get it checked. We might need an ultrasound abdomen to look for any collection or other complications.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
