Is It Safe To Give Azithromycin For Cough In Children?

our daughter may or may not have strep throat the culter came back negative but doctor perscriped azithromycin 100mg 7 milliliters for first day and then3.5 milliliters for 2 to 5 days her weight is 26lbs and she is 4 years old. she is sleeping all the time and coughing

Azithromycin is a safe antibiotic and can be given for cough in children. The main advantage is it can be given as single daily dose.
Your doctor has perscriped azithromycin 100mg 7 ml for first day and then 3.5 ml for 2 to 5 days. Which is okay for a 4 year old child. I would have also given a cough syrup containing Phenylephrine 2.5 mg, Chlorpheniramine 1 mg twice a day for cough.

Don't worry she would be fine
