Hi Doctor, My son (4 years old) developed severe cough on Wednesday night. It was severe for a while and then subsided after cough syrup and some home remedies. Later early morning on Thursday, it started again, but not very severe. It sounded like dry hoarse cough. By yesterday evening, he got fever and we consulted the doctor. He had a throat infection, which is quite regular for him, every 3 months and was given antibiotics - Klacid. Hearing him cough once, the Dr. said it is a croup and prescribed Dexsol (3 doses of 5ml each), which is a type of Corticosteroid. But the cough was not that severe. The fever is also back to normal after a dose of Brufen and then Adol after 4 hours. The cough not that continuous now, though it sounds dry and hoarse. Much under control. I was hesitant to give Dexsol last night and decided to wait till today. Two doses of Klacid (Antibiotic) has already gone in. Last night also, after the fever subsided, he slept okay and din t cough much. But, since the sound of the cough is still dry and hoarse, though not severe, should I give him Dexsol or can I skip it. I just want to ensure, that not giving it should not lead to other complications. Please advise. Subhashini
