General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear,

Wheezing is caused due to broncho-constriction (obstruction of smaller airway passages) which is indicative of Hyper-responsiveness and associated inflammation of air passages.

Romilast (pharmacologically Montelukast) is used as a maintenance therapy to relieve symptoms of seasonal allergies & asthma. It does not contain any steroid.
However, as your son is having an acute attack of wheeze, Romilast will not be helpful.
Under such conditions, relief will be obtained with a bronchodilator which provide symptomatic relief by causing broncho-dilation (dilating the smaller airway passages, relieving the obstruction & increasing airflow to lungs).

So, kindly consult his treating Doctor/ Pulmonologist and discuss regarding the same.
Investigations like X ray of the chest and PFT (pulmonary function test) will be helpful in detecting any pathology in the respiratory tract & lungs.

Wishing your son a good health.
Take care.
