Is It Safe To Give A Higher Dosage Of Cefdinir In 3 Year Old?

Hi, I accidently gave my 3 year old daughter 10 ml of cefdinir instead of 2 ml. It was directed to give 2 ml/ teice a day. So basically I gave her half of the 5 days course at once. She had been acting normal and it has been over 8 hours. I called the poison control they said its ok because of just once unless she vomits.I will call her doc tom to see if I should wait 2 days to give her the rest of the dosage. Just worried sick tonight. Can you shade some light? Thanks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Definitely, no appreciable ill effect is to be seen with a single higher dose of Cefdinir of 10 ml. However, we should be always careful for administering the advised dosage to the child. As the effect of higher dose will not last for a very long time, hence you are advised to give the subsequent doses as advised by the doctor for duration & in doses as prescribed for subsequent days.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
