Is It Safe To Have Epidural Despite Suffering From Osteoarthritis?

Hi. I am 27 weeks pregnant and trying to decide whether to have an epidural or not. I had discitis when I was 2 years old which put me in the hospital for a month and made me temporarily incontinent and unable to walk. The infection ate away part of my vertibrae around L4/L5, but has had no effect on my activity level. I have mild osteoarthritis and occasional back pain. I am wondering if this puts me at any increased risk of lasting damage when considering an epidural. Does it pose more of a threat of negative side effects with my baby? Thank You
