Hi,
I appreciate your query.
You can opt for the Natural Rhythm method of
contraception only if you have very regular clockwork menstrual cycles.
Generally, the first five days of the menstrual cycle are safe as far as the risk of
pregnancy is concerned. ( first five days after your bleeding is over )
However, this method is notoriously unreliable, and I would definitely advise you to consider using
barrier methods ( condoms ).
The market is flooded with newer, thinner and innovative varieties of condoms which definitely do not hurt more, and do not interfere with pleasure or feeling natural about the intercourse.
Condoms are the best option for sporadic sexual activity.
However, if you are planning a long term and frequent sexual relationship, then please consider
oral contraceptive pills also, as the newer pills are absolutely safe and free from side effects.
Just having finished your menstrual cycle puts you at a low risk for pregnancy for a few days after your bleeding stops ( upto 5 days ), but it is unwise to rely on this method as a permanent option.
hope this helped.
