so the story is that I fell on the way from school and got injured, got 7 stiches. Yesterday got the stiches removed, and the doc said it didn't stick and it was still open (don't know how, I didn't see it), because it got contaminated. It is pointless to sow it again since it is contaminated and something like that. You should leave it open and clean, clean, clean, clea, clean it a lot; don't cover it (only when going outside) it will take time to heal but eventually. So I was told, but I have an uneasy feeling about leaving it uncovered and the injury open. I wouldn't have such an uneasy feeling if it was a scratch or a cut, but its a hole! about the size of a marble

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain in case if there is a hole at the site of wound and the stitch is fallen off then there is a possibility that the area is infected and it is true that stitching it again is not required and you should keep cleaning it atleast 2 times a day with antiseptic solution and apply antibiotic ointment over it..
It has to be left open and it will help in drying and healing of wound faster..
But in case if there is a hole in the area the it will although heal slowly but will definitely heal completely but can leave a depression in that area..
You should also take a short course of antibiotics for faster healing and a Tetanus Toxoid injection should also be taken..
