Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is It Safe To Smoke Before Having Rhinoplasty Surgery?
I am 20 years old and having rhinoplasty surgery on Tuesday. I am a light-moderate smoker (less than half a pack a day) and was not told to stop smoking before my surgery, but was advised not to smoke for 2 weeks after the surgery. Am I going to be okay for surgery?
Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query. Smoking is always injurious to health. But you can smoke before surgery, but not after surgery. Because it will result in dislodgement of the blood clot from the site of surgery due to negative pressure created by smoking. This may result in infection. so do not smoke after surgery. I hope my answer will help you, take care.
