Is It Safe To Take 10mg Valium By A Teenager For Sensitive Gag Reflex?

Hello Doctor I have a dental question regarding my 17 year old daughter she has a very sensitive gag reflex and the dentist is suggesting 10 milligrams of Valium is this safe she has never had any type of drugs of that type taken I m very nervous of reaction and side effects my daughter weighs 140 pounds thank you
