Is It Safe To Take Amlodipine To Control BP And Pulse Rate?

I took my bloody pressure medicine at 7 am as usual but I just measured my pressure and is 135/96, pulse 83. My medicine is Amlodipine Besylate 2.5 mg Tab. I have a Dr. Appointment at 9 am. Can I take my medication now to lower my blood pressure until my appointment? Or should I wait?
