Is It Safe To Take Amoxil For Swollen Lips And Jaws Caused By Meth Use?

My nephew tried meth today i think. Now his bottom lip and jaw are swollen. He went to er but was not honest. They prescribed amoxil and sent him home. Think they assumed an allergic reaction to something. My wife told him to swish out with peroxide. Any more suggestions?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain your nephew has an allergic reaction to Methamphetamine which has lead to swelling of lips jaws and he needs an anti-allergic treatment..
Amoxil contains amoxicillin which is a penicillin antibiotic and it is used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections and in his case it is of no significance..
He should be given antihistamines like Allegra 60mg twice day for three to five days depending upon the rate of improvement, do cold packs over the lips and jaws..
In case if there are any systemic symptoms like rashes, dizziness, vomiting, breathlessness etc consult an emergency room..

Hope this information helps..
