DEAR SIR, i AM ONE OF THE ULCERATIVE COLITIS PATIEND SINCE 15 YEARS bUT NOW RESTARTING MADICINE BY CONSULTING A GASTROENTEROLIGIST HE PRESCRIBED ME MADICINES AS FOLLOW ASACOL 800MG 1 X 3 TIMES DAILY, FOLICUM 5 MG 1 DAILY, GUPISONE 20 MG 1 DAILY, ESOM 40 1 DAILY AND IMURAN 50 MG 1 DAILY . CAN YOU PLEASE ADVICE ME ANY OF THIOES MADICINE GOTE MAJOPR SIDE EFFECTCS THANKS

Hello,

Yes, you can continue to take the medicines prescribed by your treating doctor. In severe cases of ulcerative colitis, Azathioprine (Imuran) is given for better effect and recovery. No drug interactions are reported between Asacol and Gupisone. However, you should report to the treating doctor urgently in case of side effects or discomfort.

All the medicines have side effects so you should not get dependent on medicines but only take the prescribed medicine for a limited period of time. Interactions and side effects occur commonly when taken for a very long period.
